Taking pictures of girls for a school website

Qn37: We are preparing a website for our school and I have been requested by the Headmistress to take pictures of the girls during their activities to use on the website. We are intending to take pictures of the girls from the back without showing their faces. Is it permissible for us to do this and knowing that I am the IT (computer) teacher in a Girls’ school?

Ans.37: Firstly, you setting up a website which contains pictures of groups of female students has no benefit because you are just giving an opportunity to those with a sickness in their hearts to see these pictures; you may have a visitor to the site who calls herself Umm Ali, but this is in fact a man! So there is no benefit in this.
Secondly, it appears that your Headmistress is from the ignorant ones and she is being tested with the ‘being civilised’ trend. Or, it may be that she belongs to the Ikhwan al Muslimoon group who often don’t have the understanding of the fiqh of the Religion but are rather more interested by politics instead and they cannot see.

Thirdly, you should not respond to this request and refuse to do this. Iif she insists, tell her that she should then do it herself. Please, convey my Salaams to the people there and tell them that you will not do this.
